What Happens in the Outback Garden of Free Roam?

Jeremy Affeldt of Free Roam Brewery talks about his business.

For this community spotlight, I interviewed Jeremy Affeldt of Free Roam to find out how his brewery started and what exciting things are happening in their outback beer garden.

Free Roam officially started on March 11. They have music festivals on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They also have food trucks where people can get delicious food! Beer may be their main focus, but they also have amazing wine for those who want it. To ensure that their beer is exceptional, Jeremy got one of the best brewers in the country to create the taste. His partner, Brandon Philips, has been helping him get the brewery in top shape.

“The beer garden is perfect for families with children.”

Jeremy has enjoyed how his brewery has brought people together. His 7,500 square foot outback beer garden is a place to gather, play trivia, laugh, drink great beer, and win prizes. On Sundays, they have a yoga instructor come to the outback to practice yoga with 15 to 20 other people. Jeremy alludes to the lovely weather as part of the success of his beer garden.

The beer garden is perfect for families with children. Jeremy even has his kids there to enjoy the place with him. Their corn holes, washers, ping-pong, and many others will keep kids entertained!

We invite you to visit the Free Roam outback beer garden for a fun time with family and friends! As always, if you know other small businesses that you want us to highlight, let me know! Call or email me; I’d love to connect with you!

Overcoming The Storm

Why Free Roam Brewery is more than just a place to get food and drinks.

Today I’m excited to share some great information from local business owner Jeremy Affeldt. We interviewed him recently, and he told us a little bit about Free Roam Brewing Company and what it’s like being a small business owner in Boerne. He has been an inspiration in our lives, and I hope that he can inspire you too.

In addition to his normal work at the brewery, Jeremy has been working on a podcast and a book. His podcast studio is set up for four to five guests to come in. He has been able to have some amazing guests record with him, like Hall of Fame catcher Buster Posey. In this podcast, Jeremy focuses on the guests’ triumph over hardship, how they did that, and what we can learn from it.

He brings many different people on, not just baseball players. He has also interviewed businessmen, movie producers, and more, to talk about the storms they took on that shaped them into who they are, as well as how they utilized who they are as a success to navigate that storm.

“Free Roam Brewery is not just a brewery, it’s a community.”

That’s what the buffalo logo represents. Buffalos charge through storms—they don’t run from them. When you charge through a storm, it passes over you. When you run from it, you stay in it longer because it chases you. If people are having a tough time in their own storm, Jeremy invites them to come have a beer and talk about it. That’s part of what community is about, he says, we help each other.

Jeremy’s new book about this “buffalo mentality” is coming out soon. It includes his stories of the storms he took on in baseball, losing a 22-year marriage, raising boys, and more. Storms come and go, but when you’re in them, you need people. Free Roam Brewery is not just a brewery. It’s a place to ride the sunshine, enjoy each other’s company, and help each other get through our storms.

If you would like to be connected to Jeremy, I would be happy to help you do that. If you have any questions, reach out to me by phone or email. I’d love to help you.

What Rich Barkley Does for Local Businesses

How Rich Barkley supports local businesses with his company Benchmark.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Rich Barkley from Prime Capital and Benchmark Business Consulting. I was able to ask him all about his businesses and what they can do for you.

Prime Capital is a wealth-management firm that has been around for about 20 years. Rich focuses on financial planning there, but at Benchmark, he takes a deep dive into people’s companies to find out what makes them tick.

For most business owners, their companies are their largest assets, but they don’t know exactly how the ins and outs work. That’s where Benchmark comes in. They work with tons of local businesses to help them improve their footprints.

One of the best parts about Benchmark is that they’re a local company, but they’re able to pull from the larger resources of Prime Capital to help their clients. If you have a small business in Hill Country, Benchmark could be what you need to take things to the next level.

“If you have questions about today’s topic or anything else, please call or email me. You can also call Rich at (830) 8166-5131, email him at rbarkley@pciawealth.com, or visit his website here. Both of us are always happy to help!”

A Wonderful Organization in Our Community

What you need to know about Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries.

Have you ever heard of the local nonprofit called Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries? If not, you need to check them out. HCDBM are doing amazing things in our community, and we want to tell you about them. Recently, we had the pleasure of meeting with Agnes Hubbard, the executive director of HCDBM, and she informed us about the organization and how we can all get involved.

HCDBM serves eight counties in our area with its unique blend of mentoring and food distribution services, all while being faith-based. Their main goal is to lift up churches and help them grow, but the organization also helps provide the community with food, clothing, pregnancy resources, and more. HCDBM serves about 65,000 people per year through its many services.

People of all ages can volunteer, there is something for everyone to do, and there is always room for more helpers. Agnes Hubbard says that their greatest need is always funding, especially since they provide the goods for free, plus they are currently working on building new facilities. Need is growing, so never underestimate how much of an impact you can make.

If you would like to assist in some way, start on HCDBM’s website, or we can connect you directly with Judith. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to call or email us at the Rivers Team. We would love to hear from you.

Give Back To Your Community and Have Some Fun!

Here’s how you can give back to your local community and have some fun.

Today I’m pleased to speak with Debi Watson, the Community Resources and Partner Coordinator for Hill Country Daily Bread. It’s always great talking to her, and today we’re focusing on The Big Give.

In case you don’t know, The Big Give is an event all across Texas where people are encouraged to donate to their favorite charities. Hill Country Daily Bread will kick off The Big Give on September 18 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Singing Water Mills in Comfort, Texas. It’s located at 316 Mill Dam Road, and it’s a wonderful, kid-friendly venue.

“There will be food and wine for sale and plenty more to do, so make sure you get out there if you can!”

Debi and Hill Country Bread will be there to give you information about their organization, provide donation opportunities, and tell you more about The Big Give. There will be food and wine for sale and plenty more to do, so make sure you get out there if you can!

While this kickoff event should be a blast, The Big Give officially starts on September 22 at 6 p.m. and ends on September 23 at 6 p.m. On those days, you can visit www.thebiggivesa.com and give to your favorite participating organizations. There will also be matching minutes, where The Big Give will match whatever donation you provide.

Hill Country Daily Bread is a fantastic local charity. If you’d like to learn more about them and how you can help, check out their website. In the meantime, call or email me with any questions about real estate or these wonderful events. I look forward to hearing from you!

How the Boerne Chamber Gives Back

Kim Blohm joins me for a conversation about the Boerne Chamber.

Today I’m excited to be joined by Kimberley Blohm, the president of the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce. Our relationship with her goes way back, and we couldn’t do what we do without her support. Today she’s here to share some news about the Chamber and discuss how they give back to the community.

The Chamber has been growing, which is a blessing for the business community. They just reached 900 members and expect to hit 1,000 soon. Kim attributes that to the growth of the community of Boerne itself. Many people have followed their entrepreneurial spirits here to start businesses.

I love when people who relocate here embrace the family culture that Boerne is known for.

That’s not for no reason—with its great school districts and strong support for local businesses, Boerne is the crown jewel of the hill country. I love when people who relocate here embrace the family culture that Boerne has in spades. I can always tell new arrivals they can rest at ease in our community.

Recently, Kim and the Chamber put together an amazing event to honor all of the teachers in Boerne’s school districts. As further testament to their commitment to academia, the Chamber also offers four scholarship programs to local high school seniors in Kendall County. Whether they’re pursuing a medical degree, trade school, or entrepreneurship, local businesses like Move Logistics and Boerne AC are there to sponsor them.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about our partnership with the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce, give us a call or send us an email. We’d love to hear from you.

How Julie Helps Us Sell Homes

How Julie and By Design Staging help us sell homes for more.

Today I’m down at By Design Staging with Julie Young. We worked together for many years, so I wanted to talk about all she does for us.

They’ve worked with me for about a decade now, and they’ve always enjoyed bringing value to their clients. Even in this hot market, you can still get a lot more money for your home by staging it.

Just last week, one of their stagings sold for $225,000 over the list price. You don’t want to leave money on that table, and Julie and By Design help us make sure that doesn’t happen.

“Even in this hot market, you can still get a lot more money for your home by staging it.”

They have over 20,000 square feet in their new building. They have an incredible amount of stuff in here, so you’d imagine that it would be hard to organize everything. However, each item is tied to an RFID tag. Their stagers can make selections online, and their logistics team goes to the exact location in their storeroom and picks up the requested item. They wanted to make sure they could respond quickly to every client.

We really appreciate how Julie takes care of all our clients and our community. If you have questions or anyone else you’d like us to interview, feel free to call or email us. Of course, we’d also love to help you with all of your real estate needs.
